How the feed estimate works

The reference model estimates maintenance and growth energy, then divides it by your diet’s energy per kg of dry matter. Requirements change as cattle gain weight.

For purchased feed, cost is adjusted for dry matter and wastage. Supplement replaces its share of pasture; it is not added as a second full ration.

Growth and prices are assumptions. This is a financial comparison, not a feed prescription or a market forecast. Weather, terrain, breed and animal condition can change actual requirements. Use a manual intake or daily cost when the reference does not fit your cattle.
